EADS North America Test and Services Receives a Multi-Year Contract to Build Turboprop Engine Test Systems for the U.S. Navy
(firmenpresse) - IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/15/11 -- EADS North America Test and Services, a division of EADS North America, Inc., has been awarded a three-year IDIQ contract to produce the new Turboprop Test Instrumentation (TPTI) system and related Test Program Sets (TPSs) for the test of U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps T56 turboprop engines. The contract, with a total potential value of approximately $15 million, is for up to 12 systems: 11 production units, one pilot production unit, two pilot production TPSs, and up to two TPS production units. The award was the result of a best-value competitive procurement.
The TPTI system provides a highly capable Intermediate Level (I-level) maintenance solution with automated data capture, reporting, and transfer, increased flexibility for engine testing, lower logistics and manpower requirements, as well as reduced fuel use during engine test runs.
The TPTI system is the third member of the family of I-Level gas Turbine Engine Testers and joins the Jet Engine Test Instrumentation (JETI) and Shaft Engine Test Instrumentation (SETI) systems, providing the Fleet with common logistics savings across propulsion test platforms. EADS North America Test and Services has previously built and fielded JETI systems with related TPSs which are utilized on both land-based and aircraft carrier installations and currently is providing SETI systems and related TPSs.
