Faye W. McClure, Farmers Insurance Vice President, Named Southern California Freedom's Sister by the Museum of Tolerance
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/21/11 -- Farmers Insurance Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Faye W. McClure, was recently appointed a Southern California Freedom's Sister by the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles in recognition of her contributions to advancing civil rights and social justice. McClure is one of 43 distinguished African-American women in Southern California presented with this honor.
"I am thrilled and humbled by this recognition," said McClure. "To be part of such a distinguished group of accomplished women like Karen Bass, Holly Robinson-Peete, and Pat Harvey, among others, is an honor beyond measure."
In a letter advising McClure of her honor, Liebe Geft, director of the Museum of Tolerance indicated that McClure was selected "...in recognition of your outstanding contribution to our community and beyond in promoting civil rights, advancing social justice, and aiding underprivileged groups in our society."
McClure and the other local appointees were selected to join a group of national honorees that are being recognized through a traveling art exhibition developed by the Smithsonian Institution and the Cincinnati Museum Center called Freedom's Sisters. The nationally-touring exhibit pays tribute to 20 remarkable African-American women who have expanded human and civil rights in the United States in a very significant way.
The Freedom's Sister exhibition is being hosted locally by the Museum of Tolerance in west Los Angeles through January 8, 2012. The group of notable women featured in the Smithsonian Institution's project includes Rosa Parks, Shirley Chisolm, Myrlie Evers-Williams, Dorothy Irene Height, Harriet Tubman and Coretta Scott King, among others.
