(firmenpresse) - MARIETTA, GA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/21/11 -- Three auctions of Georgia bank-owned properties attracted strong fields of bidders last week, resulting in the sale of commercial, residential and agricultural properties for a combined $2,137,891. managed all three auctions.

The week began with a "mortgagee sale" Nov. 15-16 combining assets owned by several banks. Those auctions attracted more than 100 bidders who came in-person to the events in Macon and Atlanta, as well as another 75 who bid online. Rounding out the sales was the auction of a 167-acre working farm for $220,836 in Calhoun County. This auction was conducted by order of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Georgia.
"The most important thing is that the banks are getting properties off their balance sheets, which is of critical importance both for the banks and for the economy. These properties weren't doing anybody any good sitting idle, and now the new owners can do something positive with them," said Dixon.
"It's already been a record year for us, and we're not through by any means. We still have auctions in the next few weeks in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, the Florida Panhandle, Wilmington, N.C., and Mableton, GA. Plus, we'll be selling bank branches in Georgia, Alabama, Illinois, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas, so it'll be a busy December," he said.
