KIT Video Player Gives Connected TV Users Access to Volkswagen's 21st Century Beetle Experience at the Click of a Button

(firmenpresse) - LONDON -- (Marketwire) -- 11/23/11 -- KIT digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: KITD), a premium cloud-based software solutions and technology services provider for multiscreen video management and delivery, announced today that Volkswagen will use the KIT Video Platform to deliver interactive "red button" television advertising.

While red button capabilities -- the inclusion of an actual red button on remote controls that denotes interactive TV -- have been around for a while, campaigns like Volkswagen's represent their successful introduction into the digital realm. Available on hybrid broadcast broadband TV (Hbb TV) and "Connected TV" services, viewers gain the full interactivity of the Internet and online video capabilities.

In the Volkswagen campaign, viewers press the red button and arrive to a "digital showroom" where they can view the new Volkswagen Beetle prototype. The KIT Video Platform, a cloud-based video asset management system, powers the digital showroom, allowing viewers to interact directly with animated graphics and select features to see what their ideal Beetle model would look like. The technology provides immediate, demonstrable metrics for marketers by also including a feature directly from the application for interested viewers to set up a test drive and interact with their local dealership. In addition, viewers can choose from 170 different videos about Volkswagen and its products, and then switch seamlessly back to the live TV programming from which the red button was pushed.

"New Internet-enabled televisions make it possible to combine traditional TV advertising spots with the possibilities of digital advertising," said Luca de Meo, head of marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen brand, the HbbTV campaign, "as we can see from the 21st Century Beetle campaign. Market research shows that the mix of TV and online advertising can increase the effectiveness of campaigns. As a result, new opportunities arise to deliver the information customers want directly into their living rooms via a Connected TV."

Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, chairman and CEO, KIT digital, commented: "Volkswagen's campaign is an excellent example of the future direction of television. Viewers can access commercial information that appeals to them through the seamless integration of broadcast television and the Internet. KIT digital's video technology is making this new era in broadcasting a reality and we are proud to support Volkswagen's commitment to delivering interactive advertising that engages and excites their customer base."
