Forget Fruit It's All Gone A Bit Festive-the Real Shapes of Man Revealed

(firmenpresse) - LANCASTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 11/25/11 -- Forget the carrot cut or the apple bottom, when it comes to the real shape of UK men, it's all gone a little bit festive.

Research(i) by big and tall retailer High and Mighty reveals that men fall into four distinct shape categories and can all be compared to some recognisable festive items.

Gill Politis, from , said: "When it comes to body shapes, it is men who struggle the most to find clothes that fit them in all the right places. Men need to take their time more when shopping and make sure they try things on. Our research(ii) found that 67% of men admitted to not trying things on and having to return items when they don't fit."

First off the Festive Parsnip, only 8% of Brits fall into this category and are men with broad shoulders and tapered waists who have no fears of finding pants that fit but may need to work their glutes to fill out their jeans. Celebs who share this shape include David Beckham, TOWIE star Mark Wright and fighting fit Gary Barlow.

Gill says: "Whilst their bodies may look gorgeous, men with this shape struggle to find tops to fit their arms and shirts to fit their broad shoulders. Our top tip is investing in a made to measure shirt that is guaranteed to make you look your best."

Whereas 49% of Brits fall into the common category of the Yule Log, similar shoulder widths and waists mean that getting clothes to fit in all the right places can be a challenge and can often mean men buy clothes that are just that bit too small and look tight or too big and look ill-fitting. Celebs such as X-Factor host Dermot O'Leary, Jonathan Ross and Naked Chef Jamie Oliver.

Gill added: "Yule Log shaped men need to make sure they accentuate their waist by tucking their shirt into their jeans and accessorising with a quality belt to add shape to their silhouette."

23% of British men share their shape with the traditional Christmas Pudding, carrying weight around their mid-section, think James 'Arg' Argent from The Only Way is Essex, comedian James Corden and Radio One DJ Chris Moyles.

Gill continued: "Men do tend to hold any extra weight around their midriff and as such need to ensure they buy clothes that elongate the body to make their shape look slimmer such as v-neck jumpers and t shirts, fitted jeans that can hold them in all the right places and shoes with a heel that add height."

And then there is the 20% of men who are tall and thin, like a Christmas Candle. Thin narrow shoulders, waists and hips that can make clothes look too big and trousers that are just that bit too short. Celebs in this category are writer and comedian Stephen Merchant, footballer Peter Crouch and actors Rhys Ifans and Dr. Who himself, Matt Smith.

Gill concluded: "Tall, thin men can struggle with sizes as they need fitted jeans with a long leg and tops that aren't broad but give the length of arms needed. I would advise picking up our 38" leg jeans and our tall shirts which are 2" longer than the rest of the high street."
