HyperTransport Consortium Presents at Server Design Summit
Provides Detailed Research and Analysis on Best Approach to Cut Costs While Best Managing Power Efficiencies of Entire Cluster Infrastructure

(firmenpresse) - SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/11 --
The HyperTransport Technology Consortium will present "CPU vs. Cluster Power Consumption" in Session 1-102 at the Server Design Summit. Mario Cavalli, general manager of the HyperTransport Consortium, will discuss detailed research and analysis showing that the impact of CPU power consumption on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) decreases considerably as sever clusters grow larger in number of nodes. Cavalli will highlight the importance of addressing power efficiency challenges of the entire cluster infrastructure -- not just the servers -- and will discuss the HyperShare™ technology platform, which dramatically reduces HPC and data center owners' costs, while improving cluster efficiency, performance and reliability.

Tuesday, November 29, 10:00 - 11:20 a.m.
Server Design Summit, Santa Clara Marriott, 2700 Mission College Boulevard, Santa Clara, Calif.
The Server Design Summit focuses on the design of next-generation servers ranging from simple blades to powerful high-end systems. The conference will focus on issues which include designing for virtualization and cloud computing, reducing power consumption, managing large numbers of servers (server farms), increasing throughput and performance, and bundling of servers, interfaces, and software into unified architectures. Other topics will address the use of advanced interfaces such as 10/40/100 GbE and RapidIO and new memory and storage devices such as LRDIMM and solid state drives (SSDs). The HyperTransport Technology Consortium is a membership-based, non-profit organization that licenses, manages and promotes HyperTransport Technology. HyperTransport technology is at the heart of the HyperShare platform, an entirely new approach to data center and high-performance cluster design. The platform enables global resource sharing, providing the cost, power savings, performance, flexibility and scalability needed for tomorrow's data center, cluster and cloud computing environments. Founded in 2001, the Consortium hosts a strong ecosystem of members that includes technology leaders, start ups and academia licensing the royalty-free use of HyperTransport technology and intellectual property.
