Inaugural Race to Reduce Awards to Recognize Leaders in Office Building Energy Conservation, Landlord/Tenant Collaboration

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/11 -- 's will celebrate leadership by Toronto region office building landlords and tenants collaborating to conserve energy and improve energy efficiency at the first annual Awards. The event takes place on Wednesday, November 30th, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building, Room 701A.
More than 150 real estate owners, managers, and tenants from across the Toronto region will take part in the event, which will be hosted by CBC Radio's Mary Wiens and feature awards for participation, performance, and action and innovation. Competition for awards is fierce: over 380 landlords and tenants from 117 buildings have entered the Race since its in May 2011, representing over 51 million square feet (almost 25 per cent) of the region's office space.
The Race challenges Toronto region office building landlords and tenants to publicly commit to work together to reduce energy use in their buildings, and to reduce total energy use in participating buildings by at least 10 per cent over four years. The Race is unique in measuring and tracking energy use over time, thanks to its partnership with , and given its potential to transform market practices, in particular the way landlords and tenants work together and conserve energy.
