Pohjola becomes intermediary for state payment transfers

Pohjola Bank plc has been chosen as the primary intermediary of the Finnish
state's payment transfers, having been acting as a secondary intermediary until
now. The competitive bidding process organised by the State Treasury was
completed today.

The competitive bidding included all services related to the transfer of
payments and invoices, paying particular attention to service quality. Some new
elements were added, such as electronic contract management and introduction of
an online invoicing portal.

- This is a welcome acknowledgement that OP-Pohjola Group's services are
comprehensive enough to meet the needs of the biggest of customers, says Anne-
Mari Tyrkkö, Senior Vice President at OP-Pohjola Group.

The previous contracts were made for four years, but this one is for seven years
with an option to extend it by 12 months. The new contract period begins on 1
December 2012.
