National Gift-Wrapping Contest Winner Crowned for 2011
Rosie Sato Wraps Up $10,000 Grand Prize in the Scotch Brand Most Gifted Wrapper Contest
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 12/02/11 -- Rosie Sato, a master gift wrapper from Gardena, Calif., was crowned the 2011 "Scotch Brand Most Gifted Wrapper" in a national sponsored by 3M, the maker of Tape. At Rockefeller Center in New York City, Rosie out-wrapped seven other expert gift wrappers to win the ultimate holiday present -- a $10,000 cash prize.
Finalists wrapped odd-shaped gifts in three rounds during the contest:
Round 1: a gumball machine and a board game
Round 2: an old-fashioned snow sled
Round 3: a six-foot tall backyard play set
The contestants were judged on three criteria: appearance of the wrapped gifts, the technique used to wrap the gifts and speed
A preliminary judge selected the eight finalists -- four amateurs and four professionals -- based on a brief essay and tip that showed their talent and experience in the art of gift wrapping
The first runner-up, Diana Lemos from San Diego, Calif. received a $2,500 cash prize
The following six contestants also received smaller cash prizes:
Angela Choi from Reisterstown, Md.
Renee Goetz from Forest Hills, N.Y. of Kate's Paperie
Alice Krause from Seattle, Wash. of Packaging Specialties
Jacob Marshak from New York, N.Y. of Boomerang Toys
Sandy Mayer from Cape Charles, Va.
Melissa Montoya from Tempe, Ariz. of Dillard's
