Calgary Parking Authority Issues 3,291 Warning Notices to Vehicles Parked on Snow Routes
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/05/11 -- The announced that as of 4:30 pm today 3,291 warning notices were handed out to vehicles parked on snow routes throughout the city.
"Since the snow event was announced yesterday, we have focused on giving out warning notices to vehicles parked on snow routes," said CPA General Manager Troy McLeod. "This is the first time a snow event has been declared in . We took an educational approach and issued warning notices."
According to CPA statistics, more than 80 per cent of people complied with bans and moved their vehicles when the snow event was declared yesterday afternoon at 2:00 pm. Approximately 22,000 parking spaces are affected by the .
The CPA tracked the number of warning notices that had been issued at various times throughout the day. At 6:30 am this morning, 1,356 had been issued. At 1:30 pm, 2,644 warnings had been issued. As of 2:45 pm, 3,021 warnings had been issued.
When snow route parking bans are in effect, vehicles with valid handicap permits parked in handicapped zones may remain parked at all times. Vehicles parked on-street in ParkPlus zones from 09:00-18:00 Monday to Saturday may also remain parked. Vehicles parked outside these hours must be moved to facilitate snow clearing operations. Calgary Roads signage indicates no parking is allowed in from 21:00-06:00.
Vehicles left in a parking restricted area will be subject to enforcement measures up to and including a parking tag and tow.
