(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Tieto Corporation Press Release 9 December 2009 at 10.00 am EETNext year's representative council elections for Cooperative TradekaCorporation will be executed using Tieto's Vaalipalvelu-service.Vaalipalvelu will be used in functions related to establishing theelection, creating voter and candidate registries, vote processingand computing the election results. The service is especially wellsuited for use in elections and referendums by communities andorganizations.Tieto's service is also used to send, process and receive materialsrelated to absentee voting. Voting in the elections happens by post,as the cooperative's rules don't allow electronic voting. Thesoftware used in the elections is a SaaS (Software as a Service)delivery, so the election organizer only needs an internet connectionand a browser application.Tradeka Corporation has over 300 000 Finnish members. It owns hoteland restaurant group Restel Oy, as well as 16% of retail storeoperator Suomen Lähikauppa Oy. 110 representatives, as well as adeputy for each one, are chosen in the council elections. Voting isbased on districts that, for the most part, mirror Finland'sParliamentary districts."We were looking for a ready-made solution that would allow us toorganize this election as cost-effectively as possible.
