(firmenpresse) - SPOKANE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/09/11 -- Author Faye M. Thompson uses poetry to minister to people in emotional or spiritual pain through her new book, "To God's Glory" ().

Her work reflects her experiences -- from the blessings and triumphs to the bad choices and temptations -- as a wife, mother and friend. Throughout, she says, God was there to guide her, support her, and ultimately, to lift her up and make her shine. By writing honestly about her own fallibility, she hopes readers will be able to connect with and relate to her work.

"Friends say my poems make them think about how they are responding to different life situations," she says. "My audience is those sitting on the fence wondering if God is real and if he could help them. Each piece tells readers that they do not suffer alone, and that there are many who have been through it and came out victorious because of their faith in God."

A former jail chaplain, Thompson and her husband also ran a jail outreach ministry.

"I have always loved being able to show people there is an answer to their problems," she says. "That answer is a higher authority than one's self."

"To God's Glory" includes 48 works ranging from cheerful homage to people met along life's road, to prayers for lifting the writer out of her own weariness and sorrow.

"Oh yes, at times I stumble and camp out on regret and fear,

I get down and I wonder, Lord, are you even there?

Then I realize that you are; it's only me that's gone astray.

So I take the path back to you; I kneel down and I pray."

Faye M. Thompson grew up in Sierra Valley, Calif., and moved to Idaho in 1997. She has been married for 22 years and is the mother of three children, all of whom hold Christian Masters Commissions. She has been writing poetry since childhood.
