Idahoan Foods(R) Touts Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Sponsorship
(firmenpresse) - LEWISVILLE, ID -- (Marketwire) -- 12/13/11 -- Those steaming bowls of Idahoan mashed potatoes at friends-packed buffet tables will take on much higher profile during the upcoming college football bowl season, thanks in part to Idahoan Foods, the long-established potato processor.
Idahoan Foods is one of 12 corporate sponsors of the newly-minted Famous Idaho Potato Bowl that will pit Utah State University and Ohio University on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 3:30 p.m. (MST). The game will be played on the famous blue turf of Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. It will be only the second game of this entire bowl season calendar. During its last seven games, the bowl was known as the Humanitarian Bowl.
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl joins a long-standing tradition of commodity-named football bowl games with connections to a state's primary agricultural product. The Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl and the Cotton Bowl also promote products critical to their respective states' economic well-being.
From strictly a potato marketing standpoint, this year's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl teams, Utah State of Western Athletic Conference and Ohio of the Mid-America Conference, play in conferences that include four of the top five potato-consuming states: New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. That's an added benefit for Idaho's potato industry.
