European e-Skills Week Conference Delivers Roadmap for European Jobs and Productivity

(firmenpresse) - BRUSSELS, BELGIUM -- (Marketwire) -- 12/14/11 -- More than 200 people gathered in Brussels from twenty five member states for the . The conference also brought together leaders from industry, education and government to discuss the current state of e-Skills - competence in information technology - in Europe.
The e-Skills Conference 2011 is the first event in the lead up to the European e-Skills Week 2012. The European Commission has initiated the campaign, operated by DIGITALEUROPE and European Schoolnet, that will feature hundreds of events across Europe that will raise awareness of the opportunities for jobs for Europeans.
Representatives from member states delivered presentations on the variety and numerous activities that are planned for the European e-Skills Week taking place from 26 to 30 March 2012. The campaign delivered on behalf of the European Commission - DG Enterprise and Industry includes the participation of global companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, Dell, as well as SMEs across Europe, in partnership with education bodies and public authorities.
European e-Skills Week activities will unofficially commence in December 2011 and will continue up until April 2012.
European Schoolnet () is a network of 30 Ministries of Education in Europe and beyond. European Schoolnet was created 15 years ago to bring about innovation in teaching and learning for its key stakeholders: Ministries of Education, schools, teachers and researchers.
