Tools Targeted by Thieves
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 12/25/11 -- Swinton Commercial is reminding van drivers not to leave tools or work equipment in their vehicles overnight to reduce the risk of break-ins.
The retailer estimates that thousands of van drivers will wake on Christmas morning to brand new tools, which may be targeted by thieves breaking into the vehicle.
A recent survey by Swinton Commercial revealed that 11% of van drivers had suffered damage to their vans as thieves tried to break in. Damage is caused when thieves use a crow bar or some other device to force open the doors of the van.
Van drivers can protect their tools and equipment by adding a tool protection add-on to their existing policy.
Swinton Commercial's tips for keeping tools safe:
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton said, "Thieves will be targeting work vans over the festive period in the hope of stealing some brand new tools that can be sold on. Van drivers need to be extra vigilant when it comes to their vehicles security to avoid any unnecessary van insurance claims."
