Becker & Poliakoff to Hold Free Community Association Educational Seminars Across Florida
Half-Day Programs Provide Resources for Managing Communities in Today's Challenging Economy

(firmenpresse) - FT. LAUDERDALE, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 01/06/12 -- As a new year begins, Florida's community associations face continued challenges resulting from the state's still sluggish economy and slow-recovering real estate market. To help communities in this demanding environment, Becker & Poliakoff announced today its 36th Annual Community Association Leadership Conferences beginning January 24 to provide communities with information and advice that will help them to manage more effectively.
The half-day educational seminars draw on Becker & Poliakoff's decades of experience as counsel and advocate for communities throughout Florida and are free for association board members, property owners and managers. They will be held in 14 locations across the state.
"There's a new playbook for community associations in today's challenging economy," explained Ken Direktor, chair of Becker & Poliakoff's Community Association Law Practice Group. "Boards and managers need to cope with complex financial, legal and operational issues. Our Annual Leadership Conference is designed to provide the knowledge and tools they need to navigate successfully in today's difficult environment."
The seminars will focus on the numerous complex legislative changes from the 2011 Legislative Session and recent case law impacting Florida's communities, including topics such as:
Official Records
Board Meetings and Elections
Hurricane Protection
Attachment of rents
Fines and Suspensions
Bulk Buyers
Management Fees
Fire Safety
As a special feature of each seminar, a panel of Becker & Poliakoff attorneys will host an interactive discussion of issues related to covenant enforcement. Community leaders will receive tips on how to handle real life enforcement cases, problem residents, and what recourse is available to make their communities safer, stronger and operationally sound. Additionally, Participating Community Association Managers (CAMs) will earn 2 continuing education credits in 2012 Legal Update.
