General Electric currently pays an annual dividend of 68 cents for a yield of around 3.6 percent. Sterne Agee analyst Ben Elias issued a report earlier this month arguing that General Electric should be able to maintain a 45% dividend payout, and possibly buyback stock in 2012.
General Electric operates as a technology, service, and finance company worldwide. GE Capital's Telecom, Media and Technology (TMT) financing business announced earlier this week that it completed 38 deals totaling $3.4 billion in financing during 2011.

Pfizer Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, offers prescription medicines for humans and animals worldwide. Pfizer presently pays an annual dividend of 80 cents for a hefty yield of around 3.7 percent. Earlier this week the company's CEO Ian Read says that Pfizer's Lipitor cholesterol drug is, "basically where we expected to be," holding onto ~37%-38% of the overall U.S. market while competing with generic versions.
Generic versions of Lipitor from Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. went on sale in late November and early December, marking the loss of U.S. exclusivity for Pfizer's Lipitor.
