College for Financial Planning Attains Academic Distinction

(firmenpresse) - GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/25/12 -- The College for Financial Planning, the nation's oldest financial planning education institution, recently attained two notable distinctions from academic oversight organizations. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a regional educational accreditation commission, reaccredited CFFP through the 2017-18 school year. The American Council on Education (ACE) also recognized CFFP for the quality of its graduate-level course content.
CFFP's reaccreditation process through HLC began in 2008, and the Commission approved accreditation for seven years. HLC is one of six regional accreditors in the U.S. and it is the largest in terms of the number of states it reviews. Its accreditation reflects the College's achievement of HLC's standards in the areas of: institutional effectiveness, planning, scholarship, assessment and responsiveness to students.
"The renewed accreditation is a gratifying recognition of the College's exceptional standards," CFFP President John Sears said. "Our students can continue to feel confident in attending a recognized leader in financial planning education."
CFFP also earned recognition for the quality of its course content from the American Council on Education (ACE), the primary coordinating body for all higher education institutions. ACE evaluated CFFP's non-degree courses as part of its College Credit Recommendation Service (CREDIT). After a week-long review, CREDIT declared that five CFFP courses retained upper-division status, one course retained lower-division status, and one new course was deemed upper-division status (upper-division courses are more advanced and specific and lower-division courses cover introductory topics). ACE's next evaluation of CFFP's courses will take place in 2014.
"The American Council on Education's evaluation reaffirms the College's commitment to providing exceptional financial planning education to our students," Dr. Jesse Arman, Vice President of Academic Affairs, said. "We are extremely pleased with the results of the evaluation."
