Global Peace Vigil for Tibet in Toronto, Canada
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/08/12 -- Tibetans in Tibet have recently been going through unimaginable humiliation and indignity inflicted by China's repressive policy pursued since 2008 Spring Uprising all over Tibet.
As a peaceful and non violent protest to demand freedom and basic human dignity, over the last one year 19 Tibetans have resorted to self immolation out of which 11 succumbed to burn injuries and rest are not known of their whereabouts. Last week itself 3 Tibetans preferred to die through self immolation rather than live the life of humiliation and indignity under China.
Because of these ongoing non violent protests in Tibet, there is a growing sense of concern world wide. Many of the world leaders have expressed their concern to the Chinese government including a very strongly worded concern expressed by Senator John McCain, a former US Presidential Candidate, to the Chinese Premier during one of their meetings in Europe.
Naturally all the Tibetans every where in the world are anxious and concerned about the loss of lives in Tibet. Therefore Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario joined by Tibetan Youth Congress Toronto, Tibetan Women's Association of Ontario, Shu Shi Gangdruk and Students for a Free Tibet have organized a peaceful Vigil to express their grief over the loss of precious human lives of the Tibetans in Tibet and to show our firm solidarity with the Cause.
Thousands of Tibetan Canadians and Tibet Supporters are expected to join the vigil. Important political and community leaders are also expected to join and address the vigil.
