Invention Is Environmentally Friendly and Offers Substantial Cost Savings to the U.S. Military and Its Many Contractors

(firmenpresse) - AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 02/09/12 -- Austin-based Ascendant Engineering Solutions (AES) has turned a dream into a reality today with its announcement that the is officially available to the U.S. Military as well as companies that sell products and services into the defense industry.

Several years ago, AES () recognized a gross inefficiency in the marketplace when it came to testing small arms weapon mounted systems before they could be released into the field of battle. Then and today, in many cases, the military would require a soldier to take a newly configured weapon system to the range and fire the weapon thousands of times before it could be certified for use.

This was problematic on several fronts: the cost to deploy the soldier, the cost of the ammunition and the fact that environmental toxins are deposited into the ground and released into the atmosphere.

"We believed there was a better way," said Jon Noeth, the president of AES, which already provides products and solutions to the military on other fronts. "So we went to work, and created a product that would not only serve our company interests, but also the country's economic and environmental interests as well."

Early on, AES decided that it did not want to be the clearinghouse for the testing of small arms weapon systems, but instead shared its capability directly with the military and other companies that typically assist the military in such areas. The U.S. Army has wasted little time approving the as a substitute for live fire testing. The product has been very well-received with close to a dozen already sold in front of the official launch, including one to the US Army.

"To the best of our knowledge, we are the only small arms weapon shock simulator proven to recreate known live fire failures on units under test and the only weapon shock simulator approved for shock test in place of actual small arms live fire for the DoD," said Noeth.

The story of how AES created this powerful product was chronicled earlier this month in the Austin American Statesman:

ABOUT AES
Ascendant Engineering Solutions was founded in 2004 by six partners, each bringing a different area of engineering expertise to the field. They believed that integrating their diversity of knowledge could open up new avenues for collaboration and innovation. So they envisioned a new kind of engineering firm, one that embraced a culture of cross-disciplinary interaction and research. Drawing on 100 years of combined experience, the founding partners transformed that concept into a successful engineering firm, and Ascendant Engineering Solutions was born.
