300 Academic Institutions Partner With SDL to Prepare Students for a Career in Localization

SDL University Program Gives Students Exposure to Managing Global Content to Enhance Customer Engagements

This is the largest and most established program of its kind in the localization industry enabling graduates to more easily secure job placements in a challenging economic climate.

In 2003, a total of five exabytes of data existed. Today, users are creating the same amount of data every two days. With this huge growth in content and the increased ease of access to information, there are new demands for multilingual content across more communication channels and multiple devices. To prepare graduates for careers that help companies engage with their global customers, through effective global content management which allows for timely publication across all languages, . This will help to ensure students get the desired training needed to be successful in today's dynamic business environment which requires technology to be enterprise ready and relevant content delivery in the language, the media and at the moment the consumers chooses.

As part of the partnership, students:

Following the success of the University Program, SDL is expanding its academic collaboration with new technology-driven initiatives and is also planning a series of new University courses and workshops for output, beginning in 2012. The workshops will expose students to the various skills (creativity, discipline, domain knowledge and tool proficiency) required to combine machine translation and human talent in the localization market. SDL intends this collaboration to help students recognize key elements of the ever-changing technology landscape and embrace the opportunities offered for improving their skills and fulfilling their potential.
