Bechtel and ANGT Successfully Complete Major Infrastructure Project for African Games
Games Played in New Stadia
(firmenpresse) - LONDON -- (Marketwire) -- 02/12/12 -- Bechtel and L'Agence Nationale de Grands Travaux (ANGT) successfully delivered major new infrastructure vital to the 28th Africa Cup of Nations played in Gabon.
Bechtel and ANGT worked together to ensure the readiness of the two stadia -- Stade de l'Amitié (Libreville) and Stade de Franceville -- and the six training facilities across Gabon needed for the football tournament played between January 21 and February 12. They were also responsible for managing the construction of associated national infrastructure, such as seven hotels and new roads.
The new Stade de l'Amitié was built in 22 months and has capacity for 40,000 spectators, an onsite 18-room hotel, a separate training area, a VIP zone, dedicated media rooms, live broadcast facilities, conference rooms and restaurants. The Stade de Franceville was built in 24 months and has capacity for 20,000 spectators and offers a VIP zone, restaurant, and live broadcast and media facilities.

Bechtel has been providing management and technical support to the Government of Gabon since July 2010 to create a national infrastructure master plan and provide resources for the new agency for infrastructure, ANGT. Projects underway include mixed-use housing and neighborhood development near the Stade de l'Amitié, water systems and port development in target areas, transportation infrastructure in Libreville, refurbishment and equipment for universities in major cities and additional roads throughout Gabon.
