Omnisens Monitors 32 km Hainan, China Interconnector
(firmenpresse) - MORGES, SWITZERLAND -- (Marketwire) -- 02/28/12 -- To secure the power supply to Hainan Province, have installed a 500 kV interconnector across the Qiongzhou Strait which separates Guangdong from Hainan Island. The temperature all along the 32 km energy cable, installed by Norway AS, is monitored by , the long distance cable monitoring specialist.
Using optical fibers attached to the three cables as sensors, Ditest monitors the temperature continuously in real time, providing condition monitoring along the entire subsea cable. The Ditest detects and locates any temperature anomalies, communicating them to the operator, who can take appropriate action to rapidly secure the supply and protect the cable.
In addition, the Ditest provides real-time temperature data to the Dynamic Rating System (DRS) allowing the performance of the power cable to be optimized.
Configured for automatic and permanent monitoring, the system offers full redundancy.
