(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/06/12 -- The (CPA) announced that as of 4:00 pm today 725 parking tickets were issued to vehicles parked on snow routes throughout the city.

" enforcement is intended to help improve compliance to allow City crews room to clear snow from designated traffic and bus routes," said CPA General Manager Troy McLeod. "We have continued our progressive enforcement plan to support the snow route parking bans and have had to issue tickets to vehicles parked along snow routes."

Prior to the first snow route parking ban in December 2011, the CPA sent out over 15,000 courtesy notices. Once the first parking ban was declared CPA issued 4,140 warning notices. Over 80% compliance was achieved during the first snow route parking ban. We will monitor activity and report what the compliance rate has been for this event.

When snow route parking bans are in effect, vehicles parked on-street in may remain parked until 9:00 pm. Vehicles with valid handicap permits parked in handicapped zones may remain parked at all times. Vehicles parked outside these hours must be moved to facilitate snow clearing operations. Calgary Roads signage indicates no parking is allowed in ParkPlus zones from 21:00-06:00.

Vehicles left in a parking restricted area will be subject to enforcement measures up to and including a parking tag and tow.

All signed CPA parkades and surface parking lots are offering free parking from 9:00 pm until 6:00 am the next morning during the snow route parking ban.

The City of Calgary declared a snow route parking ban as of 9:00 am this morning. The parking ban will be in effect for the next 72 hours or until the City announces that it has been lifted.
