El Dorado County Court Rules in Favor of Tribe

(firmenpresse) - PLACERVILLE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/09/12 -- At a hearing on Feb. 23, 2012, attorneys for Sharp Image Gaming, Inc. made a number of last minute arguments in an attempt to reverse the tentative ruling the Court had issued in favor of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians (Tribe). The Tribe substantiated its position in its legal response and, as a result, the El Dorado County Superior Court issued a final ruling today that allows the Tribe to appeal the $30 million judgment to a higher court without posting an appeal bond. The Court's ruling means Sharp cannot enforce its judgment unless it can be affirmed by the appellate courts.
"We expected the Court to stand by its ruling, and are pleased with the final outcome. We have moved forward with our appeal," said Nicholas Fonseca, Chairman of the Tribe.
