Legal Leadership Shines in 32-Year Success Story SHORTSTOP Juvenile Crime Diversion in OC
Orange County Bar Foundation Offers Diversion Program With a 95% Success Rate Over 32 Years

(firmenpresse) - SANTA ANA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/13/12 -- For 32 years, Orange County's legal community has united to help end the cycle of crime and violence through the OC Bar Foundation's program SHORTSTOP, a comprehensive 12-hour diversion program where at-risk first-offenders get a second chance at rehabilitation.
Depending on their type of practice, some of OC's legal leaders see all too closely the irreparable damage that can be done by a juvenile hall sentence.
On April 4 & 10, a group of 15-30 juveniles will go with their parents to the Orange County Courthouse, wear orange jumpsuits, be assigned a number, visit a holding tank in criminal court, admit to their parents the crimes they committed, and hear from Orange County prisoners, parolees and corrections officials.
"We are thrilled to see how positively this program has benefitted the community over the past 32 years," says Mark Minyard, OCBF Board President and Managing Partner of Minyard Morris, LLP.
Prominent supporting attorneys and judges include:
ALAN J. CRIVARO, formerly of the public defender's office
JOHN HURLBUT, former Managing Partner of Rutan and Tucker
JUDGE DAVID THOMPSON
A participating parent, Sandy Martinez of Whittier, says of the program, "This has been a true life experience for our entire family. One that I know [my son] will remember for the rest of his life."
