ONE DROP at the World Water Forum in Marseille

(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 03/13/12 -- ONE DROP will present one of its projects at the Village of Solutions at the sixth World Water Forum (WWF), taking place in Marseille from March 12-17. The solutions session, hosted by UNESCO, is part of the WWF that will bring together more than 140 ministerial delegations representing over 180 countries. Considered by Forum organizers to be an innovative and original project, the ONE DROP initiative-an educational and awareness-building effort to be launched in 2012-is one of 150 projects selected from more than a thousand submissions.
"From the start, developing creative and innovative projects has been very important for ONE DROP. We are proud that our projects are being recognized on a global scale and that they are contributing to global solutions and to the movement for access to safe water for all, today and tomorrow," says Lili-Anna Peresa, Executive Director of ONE DROP.
Social arts as a tool for raising awareness
ONE DROP will present a talk on "Social arts-a complement to water-access projects" as part of the World Water Forum. As well as taking part in all the discussions and exchanges, Lili-Anna Peresa, Executive Director of ONE DROP, will highlight the role of social arts and popular education in raising communities' awareness about sound management of this resource.
The objective of the sixth World Water Forum is to tackle the challenges our world is facing and to act to make water a key priority. The right to water must be guaranteed and applied for each and every person around the world. The Forum brings together all stakeholders involved in this objective-whether they are local, regional or global-in a common context, with joint goals.
"We believe there are several ways of making the dream of water for all a reality. Taking part in international discussions to come up with global solutions is crucial as far as we are concerned. We are determined to play a role in making these discussions fruitful in order to achieve concrete progress in developing practices and policies for protecting and sharing our water," explains Lili-Anna Peresa.
