serVonic: New AFP Application Fax Printer
Sending Faxes Directly out of CRM and ERP Applications
IXI-UMS AFP: The document created by the user is processed and sent by the IXI-UMS fax server(firmenpresse) - serVonic completely reworked its AFP printer driver and so enables the automated sending of faxes out of CRM, ERP and internally developed applications. The users just have to choose the IXI-UMS AFP printer driver, the further process runs in the background. AFP means Application Fax Printer and provides a client fax printer driver. The new IXI-UMS AFP can be used with all the current Windows Client operating systems as well as in Terminal Server environments.
When the user wants to send faxes directly out of an application, he first generates the respective document and chooses the AFP printer via the feature “Print”. There is nothing else to do now: The Application Fax Printer determines the fax-relevant information like recipient number and subject, if available, by means of particular criteria from the print data stream. The application transfers the number, for example, by means of control characters determined by the administrator like (at)(at)<fax number>(at)(at). The document that shall be sent as a fax then is addressed automatically and a subject is added, if necessary. Via the mail client and the messaging system, the document is passed on to serVonic’s fax server software IXI-UMS and is sent. The sender receives the report about the delivery of the message directly in his inbox.
Preconditions
Precondition for the use of the IXI-UMS AFP printer driver is IXI-UMS Service Fax. The software can be installed on clients with Windows operating system 7, XP, Vista, 2003 or 2008 and can also be used for CITRIX XenApp/Presentation Server/MetaFrame, Windows Terminal Server. The IXI-UMS AFP Application Fax Printer is available for IXI-UMS Enterprise and for the IXI-UMS SBE Small Business Edition.
