The Gallery Collection Announces 5th Annual $10,000 Create-A-Greeting-Card Contest Winner
(firmenpresse) - RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 03/19/12 -- The Gallery Collection, a leading publisher of personalized , is proud to announce the winner of its 5th Annual Create-A-Greeting-Card scholarship contest. Whitney Fuertes of Tolleson, Arizona will receive this year's $10,000 award for her submission. In addition to a personal scholarship, Whitney's school, La Joya Community High School, will receive a $1,000 prize.
Whitney's hand-drawn work depicts a Nativity scene under a night sky. Her design beat out thousands of other entrants to be crowned this year's winner. Whitney's design and all of the 2011 finalists can be viewed on the page on The Gallery Collection website along with previous years' winners.
Whitney, a high school senior, plans to use her scholarship money to study nursing in college and pursue a career as a Registered Nurse. "It means so much to me to be able to stop worrying about how I'm going to pay for school," said Whitney when learning she was this year's scholarship recipient. "My goals once I finish school are to be able to be work in the Phoenix Children's Hospital and be able to help the children out as much as I possibly can." She was also appreciative of The Gallery Collection's scholarship contest, saying "it's a wonderful program -- they make it so simple and fair for anyone to participate in."
This marks the fifth consecutive year The Gallery Collection has hosted a greeting card design contest. High school and college students 14 years of age or older can submit original photos, paintings, drawings, and graphic designs to be considered for the front of a greeting card. Thousands of entries are judged based on overall aesthetic appeal, quality of execution, creativity, and suitability as a Gallery Collection greeting card until one winning design is chosen in March. The lucky winner receives a $10,000 scholarship, as well as having his or her design made into an actual greeting card to be added to The Gallery Collection's extensive line.
