The advice comes following the announcement by Transport for London (TfL) this week, that businesses operating along the routes of the Games' road cycling, marathon, race-walking and triathlon events, will soon receive detailed information on how they will be affected by the Games.
Businesses transporting goods to and from their premises could incur costly financial losses as a result of the delays if fleet managers fail to prepare their drivers in advance.
Road events for the London 2012 Olympics are due to take place on routes passing through areas such as Hammersmith, Wandsworth, Westminster and Richmond upon Thames, with local areas expected to experience exceedingly busy periods.
