Bruce Power: Update on Unit 2 Return to Operations

(firmenpresse) - TIVERTON, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/20/12 -- Earlier this morning, Bruce Power's operations team removed reactor shutdown guarantees on Unit 2 following completion of minor repairs to a pump system.
As previously reported, following CNSC approval on Friday, which allowed Bruce Power to remove shutdown guarantees on Unit 2, the company's operations team detected a leak on a Unit 2 pump system during restart activities. Bruce Power took appropriate actions to safely and quickly isolate the leak as per the company's operating procedures.
There was no impact on the rest of Bruce A, the public, external environment or worker safety.
The company will continue with the return to operations program on both Units 1 and 2, which will involve the powering-up and commissioning of many complex systems in preparation to provide 1,500 megawatts of additional electricity for the province.
