New "Cares and Shares" Program Supports Los Altos Schools and Non-Profit Community Fundraising Projects
Courtyard by Marriott, Los Altos/Palo Alto to Help Schools by Donating $30 for Every Weekend and Holiday Room Night Booked by Local Merchants and Residents
(firmenpresse) - LOS ALTOS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/27/12 -- The Courtyard by Marriott, Los Altos/Palo Alto announced today the launch of their Cares & Shares(SM) Community Support Program (), a social innovation campaign to advance local education and community projects in the Los Altos and Palo Alto communities of California.
The program raises funds through donations tied to the use of the hotel's hospitality services. Local residents and businesses can support elementary schools by booking rooms on weekends and holidays or by hosting friends, family, and business associates at the hotel. A new online community portal, , will also profile and feature local groups seeking funding, volunteers and community involvement.
Funds raised by the Courtyard by Marriott resident room night booking offer will be allocated to school technology projects, such as new computers in classrooms. A goal of raising $50,000 has been set for 2012 and 2013. The program's beneficiary, the Los Altos School District, is an elementary school district serving children in grades kindergarten through six. The Los Altos Community Foundation and the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce have partnered with the Courtyard's campaign to contribute to early learning, childhood development, and the effectiveness of elementary school education in the community.

The Cares & Shares(SM) program invites Los Altos residents and merchants to stay in the Los Altos Courtyard and for every room night booked on weekends or holidays, the Courtyard donates $30 in the guest's name to local schools. The Courtyard also donates weekend packages to local schools and PTAs to use for silent auctions that raise money for educational programs. In addition to donating revenue, The Courtyard has also developed the website, , which allows local organizations to post their fundraisers and events to the site; serving as an aggregator for local community non-profit efforts.
