NT Supply Gives Warehouse an Eco-Friendly Overhaul
(firmenpresse) - GREENWOOD, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 03/28/12 -- From home appliances, to energy efficiency to air filters -- sustainability matters. As businesses and homeowners gradually shift to more eco-friendly practices and products, the early steps and small changes can make all the difference in the long run.
NT Supply, a Greenwood-based discount filter company, has taken the initiative to operate their warehouse with greater efficiency, conserve energy, and improve employee ergonomics. While the switch to a more sustainable and eco-friendly operation base can be difficult, when complete, the benefits are nearly endless -- especially for a company that practices what it preaches.
A customer searching for can rest assured that a clean filter will increase the efficiency of their water filtration and lower home costs, by eliminating costly and less sustainable practices like bottled water or a gallon water delivery service. And, by ordering filters from one of NT Supply's , the customer knows that the product comes from a company with a dedication to a greener lifestyle, both at home and at work.
At their new 68,000 square foot distribution facility, NT Supply uses many of its own products alongside the most efficient, state-of-the-art warehouse design products.
The new facility employs the use of six independent heating zones with separate programmable thermostats to reduce energy consumption by as much as 25 percent. The updated Zoo Fans ventilation system, a network of 24 ceiling mounted tunnel fans, reduces energy use by reusing the heat trapped in the highest areas of the ceiling in the winter and circulating cool air throughout the summer to keep employees comfortable year-round.
A newly installed lighting system from inSync Lighting uses a third of the energy of standard warehouse lighting, but covers three times the amount of space. The new lighting installation supports better working conditions and a more accurate order picking workflow.
A new line of VNA (very narrow aisle) lift trucks allow from Drexel/Landoll for a reduction in carbon emissions and associated trucking costs by up to 30 percent. The company also uses recycled packing materials whenever possible and recycles a truckload of cardboard every eight weeks through their own corrugated bailing system.
And, while these changes speak highly of the company itself, the benefits go far beyond just the warehouse. "The best part," Todd Anthony, the company's founder and CEO, says, "is that all our green initiatives offers a significant overall cost reduction that we are able to pass through to our customers."
With sustainability becoming an increasingly important factor for both homes and businesses, taking the initiative to make changes early on can lead to a brighter future for both producers and consumers.
