BDI - BioEnergy International AG increases earnings in a difficult
market environment
29.03.2012 / 08:00
---------------------------------------------------------------------
- EBIT up 13.4% at EUR 3.6 million
- EBIT margin improved from 8% to 10.5%
- Dividend payment of EUR 0.25 per share planned
(Grambach, 29.03.2012) BDI - BioEnergy International AG, the prominent
technology supplier and specialised plant manufacturer in the Waste to
Energy field, generated encouraging earnings in the 2011 fiscal year in
spite of the difficult market environment. Although sales were 13.1% lower
than in the previous year, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) were
13.4% higher at EUR 3.6 million. It contains herein a deconsolidation
income of EUR 0.7 million due to the disposal of one Group company. This
meant that the EBIT margin was 10.5%. In view of this performance, the
Management Board and Supervisory Board will be proposing a dividend of EUR
0.25 per share to the Annual Shareholders' Meeting in May 2012.
BDI obtained a number of major commissions in the past fiscal year. The
introduction of increasingly strict BioDiesel standards is leading to
stronger and stronger demand for the company's RetroFit programme. The
company has succeeded in obtaining a RetroFit engineering commission for a
BioDiesel plant in the northern USA, for example.
It has proved to be right to enter the BioGas field for industrial users:
BDI has obtained commissions to build BioGas plants in Germany and France.
A large-scale industrial plant constructed by BDI will already be coming
into operation in Turkey in the first quarter of 2012.
BDI has continued to increase the technological lead it holds in research&development. In the context of the BioCrack project, a pilot plant will be
starting up in co-operation with a European mineral oil company - probably
in the spring of 2012. The company is reaching a milestone of tremendous
future significance with this patented technology, which enables fuel of
the highest quality with a high biogenic content to be produced from solid
biomass and a by-product of inferior quality.
Global demand for energy is increasing steadily. Renewable energy sources
are becoming increasingly important as a result. In this field, BDI is
taking advantage of its innovative technologies not only to generate energy
with minimum resource input but also to recycle and upgrade residual and
waste materials. There is huge growth potential in this sector.
In order to generate further medium-term growth, BDI is planning a
strategic expansion of its business operations by broadening the range of
core skills in the green tech field. Steps are therefore to be taken
gradually to extend the portfolio with the aim of transforming the company
from being a specialised plant manufacturer for the BioDiesel and BioGas
industry to being a supplier of a full range of industrial green tech
solutions. With this strategic optimisation programme, the company will in
future be standing not only for Waste to Energy but also for Waste to Value
- a comprehensive concept for the environmentally sound production of
BioDiesel and BioGas with minimum resource input as well as for the
sensible use of residual and waste materials while creating sustainable new
resources at the same time.
Following a transition phase, the management expects that implementation of
this strategy will enable the current sales level to be increased in the
medium term, while it continues to aim for an annual EBIT margin of more
than 10%.
