New Study Offers Hope for Early Detection of Autism

(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/02/12 -- April is Autism Awareness Month and a recently published article in the American Journal of Chinese Medicine examining the latest study, "" by Dr. Shui Yin Lo, Theoretical Physicist and Co-Founder of Double Helix Water, suggests that Traditional Chinese Medicine could detect autism prior to a child starting to show any symptoms.
While autism mainly resides in the brain, more investigation shows that the disorder might be related to gastrointestinal diseases. The study by suggests that by removing blockages along the gastrointestinal or yang meridians, energy in the body can flow more freely allowing the body to help reduce some of the effects of autism. More importantly, if blockages are seen at an early age, doctors may be able to detect the disorder before a child shows any symptoms. As is a key factor in treating the disorder, Dr. Shui Yin Lo's study opens a myriad of possible solutions for those with the disorder.
During a 12-week pilot study, Dr. Shui Yin Lo examined 11 male children with of varying levels of severity taking full-body thermographic images of each child. The images showed a pattern of six hot regions in key areas along the yang meridians, or the meridians that connect the gastrointestinal tract to the brain and are believed to be linked to the major clinical symptoms of autism.
"While parents have had to wait until their child turned two to see the signs of autism, the study suggests that preventive action can be taken before observing any behavioral disorders if a child undergoes a thermal imaging scan," said Dr. Shui Yin Lo. "I want to encourage others to join the study since early detection of autism is crucial to treating patients."
Dr. Shui Yin Lo's findings suggest that Traditional Chinese Medicine and thermal imaging can be a reliable method for early detection of autism. If confirmed in a larger clinical study, these findings could help the thousands affected by autism to live a better life.
