(firmenpresse) - NORWALK, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 04/02/12 -- University Business magazine and Higher One are honoring 16 colleges and universities in the spring 2012 round of their Models of Efficiency program. Two of the schools were honored twice for achievements in different departments. Each honoree developed new approaches that streamline operations to deliver superior services to students and other constituents in less time and at lower cost.

Models of Efficiency is a national recognition program implemented by the magazine, in partnership with Higher One, to honor institutions of higher learning that meet the education business and technology challenges of today's campuses.

"We launched Models of Efficiency to call attention to institutions of higher learning that are creating solutions to some of the technology and business process challenges that can plague schools," said Tim Goral, editor-in-chief of University Business. "We identify schools that have created replicable solutions, so that other institutions can learn from them."

The magazine's latest honorees are: Catawba College, North Carolina; George Mason University, Virginia; George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; Houston Community College, Texas; Lakeland Community College, Ohio; Mercer University, Georgia; Northwest Arkansas Community College; Ogeechee Technical College, Georgia; Salisbury University, Maryland; Texas A&M University, College Station; Texas A&M University International, Laredo; University of Central Oklahoma; University of Virginia; Victor Valley College, California; Wake Technical Community College, North Carolina; and Wilkes University, Pennsylvania. The two schools honored twice for different departments are Catawba College and Houston Community College.

Full descriptions of honorees' projects, as well as application information for upcoming rounds, can be found at .

"It's a very rewarding experience to partner with University Business in recognizing operational efficiencies on campuses across the country," said Dean Hatton, CEO of Higher One, the program's sponsor. "The creativity, tenacity and determination demonstrated by Models of Efficiency winners are inspiring to us in the private sector as we continue to strive to streamline operations and improve services in higher education business offices elsewhere."
