AURELIUS acquires Norwich manufacturing site from Bayer CropScience
- Further acquisition in Specialty Chemicals business unit
- Third acquisition by AURELIUS this year
Munich, April 4, 2012 - The Munich-based AURELIUS Group (ISIN:
DE000A0JK2A8) has agreed to acquire the manufacturing site in Norwich,
United Kingdom from Bayer CropScience, a subgroup of Bayer AG. The 260
employees at the site in Norwich manufacture and formulate crop protection
products for the global market and specialty industrial chemicals. Closing
of the agreement is expected in the third quarter of 2012. Financial
details were not disclosed.
The purchase of the Norwich site is part of AURELIUS' plans to concentrate
on extending its product portfolio and expanding contract production for
third-party customers, as well as exploiting the marketing expertise of
existing affiliates in the specialty chemicals area. In addition, AURELIUS
is planning to safeguard the long-term future viability of the site by
investing in a waste water treatment plant and a multi-production facility.
Following the acquisition, the Norwich site will operate under a new name
in future.
'Specialty chemicals are one of our main priorities. The site in Norwich is
in outstanding technical condition and a leader in its field. We believe
that it has great potential for the future,' said Donatus Albrecht, member
of the Board of Management of AURELIUS AG. 'We are delighted that with
Bayer CropScience another well-known company has decided to sell part of
its manufacturing activities to AURELIUS.'
The divestment of the production site in Norwich is part of Bayer
CropScience's global consolidation of manufacturing of crop protection
products.
