New Astros Marketing Head to Share Strategy at AMA Houston April Networking Luncheon

Root! Root! for the Astros," held at the Junior League of Houston on Wednesday, April 11.

Let's play ball? 2011 represented the worst year in the Astros' history. With disillusioned fans and a loss in hometown spirit, the Astros' 2012 season marketing campaign faces significant challenges. For 2012, the club has significant challenges -- to not only bring the team back up in the ranks, but also to get fans back into the stands. So how do they plan to do it all? For starters, this year brings a new owner, new players, and a new marketing strategy to the Houston Astros. Let's play ball!

On March 5, 2012, Kathleen Harrington Clark was named Vice President of Marketing & Strategy for the Houston Astros. In her first public appearance, Kathleen will explain how the Astros plan to re-establish the brand of Houston's home team, and draw fans back to the ballpark to "Root! Root! Root! for the Astros!"

Clark is spearheading the club's marketing and strategy initiatives going into the 2012 season. She also oversees public relations, media relations, broadcasting, brand and marketing services, in-game entertainment, and digital media and fan engagement. The Astros in Action Foundation and community services will also be an important aspect of her strategy.

Immediately prior to joining the Astros, Clark was working as a leading marketing consultant with global Fortune 500, mid-sized companies and start-ups to develop strategies that included brand and product management with an emphasis on online message delivery. She has served as Compaq's North American advertising director, managing brand and product advertising for the $10 billion company's consumer and business-to-business product lines. Clark has over 25 years of marketing and branding experience and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
