Biomedica 2009 – Third conference on life sciences in the Meuse-Rhine triangle
Originally launched in 2007, Biomedica has become a “must attend” life sciences conference in Europe. Biomedica 2009 will take place in Liège, Belgium at the Palais des Congrès on 1st and 2nd April. This year’s focus topics are biomaterials and biopolymers, molecular medicine and imaging, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.
Biomedica (firmenpresse) - The life sciences organisations, LifetecZONe, LifeTecAachen-Jülich e.V., BioLiège and LifeTechLimburg.be, joined forces in 2006 to organize the yearly international Biomedica conference with the aim of highlighting the areas of competence within the Meuse-Rhine triangle.
This event, with its conferences and exhibitions from leading pharmaceutical, biotechnical and healthcare companies, will be a platform for communication and exchange. People from over 20 nations and 1,200 representatives from companies and research institutes will meet. Throughout both days more than 50 speakers from leading universities and life science companies will be present. This will include five keynote addresses by outstanding experts in the field of life sciences.
In matchmaking sessions all attendees will have the chance to meet scientists and business partners in one-on-one meetings. Furthermore, it is possible to present business cases and financial needs in the form of “elevator pitches”. These pitches are targeted at seed fund representatives, venture capitalists and experts from the high-tech industry.
A job fair will give graduate students the opportunity to share their profiles with companies. Students can also take part in a poster competition in one of the four fields of the event. An international jury of outstanding experts will select the six best posters. The authors of these six can present their work in the plenary session of the event. Furthermore, the three best out of these will be awarded a prize of € 500 each. During the poster session young scientists can easily get in contact with researchers and business representatives to discuss their work and their aims.
