In the book, which the pastor wrote alongside wife Lisa, Dallas minister Ed Young argues that, while sex is not the most important facet of marriage, it is far from unimportant, and that a healthy sex life can offer many benefits. Much of Sexperiment details these benefits, which include stronger channels of communication, a greater standard of purity, and increased oneness as a couple. The book, which Young wrote primarily with Christian married couples in mind, also contends that a good sex life helps us better understand "God's purpose for marriage."
But the book is not just a list of benefits. Sexperiment also offers readers a challenge. In particular, Young exhorts married couples to have sex together every day for a week.
While the pastor is well aware of the stereotypes regarding marital intimacy, he maintains that couples will be surprised at the profound, positive impact that a good sex life has on their marriage. Sexperiment outlines various tips for sustaining a sex life that is regular, passionate, and creative.
And while the CNN study finds that sex is, if anything, underappreciated in many of our lives, Ed Young teaches that it is ultimately vital for building strong marriages. He even recommends his new book for use in church discussion groups and Sunday School classes.
