(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/30/12 -- The Commonwealth Club's INFORUM will host a discussion on Thursday, May 10, about publishing in the digital age and the future of editorial, led by three leaders in the scene: Mark Johnson, CEO at Zite, Laney Whitcanack, chief community officer at Federated Media, and Chris Taylor, San Francisco bureau chief at Mashable, in conversation with Peter Ha of TechCrunch.

The average San Franciscan is more likely to get their media from a screen than from a paper, so it's no surprise that newspapers and magazines are shutting down all around us. The editorial space and the way we consume news has drastically changed. What will editorial look like years from now? Will curated content really be king? Can non-digital publications stay afloat? Leading digital experts will share their experiences, honest thoughts and predictions for the future of publishing.

Panelists include:

Mark Johnson is the CEO of Zite, a personalized digital magazine that changes the way people discover content. Prior to Zite, he served as the senior program manager lead at Microsoft's San Francisco Bing office and helped launch three successful search startups. With a passion for translating technology into usable products, he knows how to harness the power of digital tools to push media boundaries.

Laney Whitcanack is Federated Media Publishing's chief community officer, prior to which she co-founded and served as chief operations officer at BigTent. After years of leading public service organizations, Laney has a wealth of experience connecting people with the communities they care about online and offline.

Chris Taylor serves as the San Francisco bureau chief at Mashable. A veteran journalist, Chris has served as the SF Bureau chief for Time Magazine, West Coast editor for Fortune Small Business and West Coast web editor for Fast Company. He has had a front-row seat to the changing nature of news and has actively contributed to its digital revolution.

Peter Ha is managing editor for TechCrunch. Prior to this, Peter launched The Daily, the first major tablet-only daily publication. He is also the former technology editor at TIME Magazine and founder/editor of Techland.com.

This program takes place at the SF Club Office on 595 Market St., 2nd floor in San Francisco on Thursday, May 10th, at 6:30 p.m. PT. For more information and to buy tickets, call (415)-597-6705 or register online at .
