Andy Harris Joins Opengear to Head EMEA Sales

(firmenpresse) - SANDY, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 05/01/12 -- Opengear (), a leading provider of next generation console server and remote infrastructure management solutions, today announced that it grew year-over-year Q1 global sales by 49.9 percent, from 2011 to 2012. The company has also hired a vice president of sales, Andy Harris, for EMEA.

"Opengear's rapid growth reflects a real need in the marketplace for secure remote management of critical IT and operational technology (OT) infrastructure, whether at a co-located data center, branch office or an industrial site, in order to meet business demands for reliability, availability and low mean time to repair," said Rick Stevenson, CEO, Opengear.

In addition to the need for management of remote infrastructure via an out-of-band access path, Opengear is seeing a large increase in demand for its cellular out-of-band solutions, and sales for these products have now surpassed the more traditional dial-up modem by 32.3% -- just for this quarter alone. "The growth of cellular WANs for out-of-band management of critical infrastructure is an emerging trend in the market," continued Stevenson. "Carriers are reducing the cost of cellular data WAN services significantly, and so the economics now support virtually there remote management via cellular, eliminating the need for cabling and modems."

Andy Harris, who has joined Opengear as vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle-East and Africa, previously held senior sales roles at companies including Talari Networks, Uplogix and Netbotz.

Opengear ( develops smart solutions for critical network infrastructure management. Opengear's Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and Remote Infrastructure Management (RIM) appliances secure and simplify remote monitoring, access and control of critical IT, network, operations technology and industrial control systems.

Opengear's smart appliances integrate next-generation automation and true out-of-band management technologies, ensuring that customers maintain complete control over critical infrastructure -- wherever, whenever.
