Riverstone Resources announces 2012 AGM Results
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Riverstone Resources Inc. (TSXV: RVS) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that shareholders have approved all resolutions put forth at the Annual General Meeting of shareholders held in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 2, 2012 (the “AGM”).
Shareholders elected Messrs. Michael D. McInnis, Dwayne L. Melrose, Richard J. Bailes, James Robertson, Alvin W. Jackson, Robert Martinez, Peter V. Gundy and Robin M. Merrifield as the Company’s Board of Directors.
The newly elected Board has appointed Mr. Dwayne L. Melrose to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer (Mr. Melrose previously held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company). Mr. Michael D. McInnis will remain as the Company’s Chairman and will act as special advisor to the Company and will continue to be active in the operations of the Company.
“We thank the Company’s shareholder for their vote of confidence”, stated Mr. Melrose, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. “We are also pleased to welcome a new face to the Company’s Board in Mr. Robin Merrifield who will bring valuable financial oversight to the Company’s future operations and to extend our thanks to Mr. Gregory Isenor, who did not stand for re-election at the AGM, for all his contributions to the Company during his tenure on the Board”.
Robin M. Merrifield, CA (SA) is a chartered accountant with substantial international experience, gained in Canada, USA, Southern Africa and five Central Asian countries. Subsequent to his obtaining his professional designation at Deloittes in Cape Town, South Africa, he became the local group financial manager of a large UK shipping and industrial group. Mr. Merrifield has worked in the mining industry for more than 30 years where he has held a variety of executive financial positions. His corporate and operational experience, with both precious and base metals, was gained with the Anglo American group, Cameco, Uranium One, Centerra's predecessor company and other Canadian public companies. He is currently, an Executive Vice President of Uranium One, having also recently served as its Chief Financial Officer for four years; and as a Director of a number of junior exploration mining companies.
