North Dallas Bank Awards Two Scholarships
(firmenpresse) - DALLAS, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 05/04/12 -- North Dallas Bank announced Nissi Duarte and Ezra Yu as the recipients of the 2012 James W. Tyra Memorial Scholarship, a four-year renewing scholarship for graduating seniors of local high schools.
Duarte is a senior at Richardson High School in Richardson and plans to attend Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She has been involved in Acappella Varsity Choir, Eaglette Drill Team - Banner Guard, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta - Math Honor Society, Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Orchestra. Nissi's special high school recognitions include Eaglette Drill Team: Outstanding Girl Award, Recognition Award in Service and October Exchange Club Student Winner.
Yu is a senior at Plano West Senior High School in Plano. He has been involved in National Honor Society, Academic Decathlon, Orchestra and Peer Assistance Leadership. Ezra's special high school recognitions include National Merit Finalist Status, AP Scholar with Distinction, National Spanish Examination Gold Medalist and Trustee Awards at Excellence by the Plano ISD school board in 2011 and 2012.
North Dallas Bank strives to support the communities it serves. The Tyra Scholarship was named in 1994 after James "Jim" Tyra, who was an advocate of programs that supported the youth in our community and acted as the bank's first Community Reinvestment Act officer. The North Dallas Bank James W. Tyra Memorial Scholarship Program, now in its eighteenth year, awards two scholarships to area seniors from public high schools to help offset college expenses. The scholarship provides each recipient $1,000 per school year for up to four years.
