Natividad Medical Foundation Receives New Grants for Fibromyalgia and Pediatric Unit Refurbishment From Community Foundation for Monterey County and The Hearst Foundations
(firmenpresse) - SALINAS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/07/12 -- Natividad Medical Foundation (NMF) has received new grants from and to support the programs and equipment needs of (NMC).
A new $100,000 grant from the Katherine Curtis Springer Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Patient Support Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County provides for medical care, necessary medication, in-home assistance and therapeutic counseling for individuals who have been diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) or Fibromyalgia, including Gulf War Syndrome.
Community Foundation for Monterey County was Natividad Medical Foundation's 2012 Hero Award recipient in honor of their generous support of Natividad programs, spanning more than 17 years and totaling more than $500,000. The Community Foundation's support for Natividad programs includes a $50,000 matching grant for The Onyx Fund for Women, which has provided down payment assistance for essential gynecologic surgeries for 33 women. A Women's Economic Advancement grant for $25,000 was also received from the Women's Fund of Monterey County, a field of interest fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County, to support indigenous women through qualified medical interpretation training and internships so that they can provide language support for Natividad patients who speak Triqui, Mixteco and Zapotec.
NMF received its first grant from The Hearst Foundations for the hospital's inpatient Pediatric Unit. The $50,000 gift supports the "Sea Treasures" Healing & Learning refurbishment project to enhance the healing, calming and nurturing environment for poor hospitalized children and their families.
