New Online Calculator Shows Canadians Their Goal-Achieving and Savings Potential in Lead Up to Financial Planning Week

Leading up to Canada's annual FPW, reminds Canadians that financial planning is essential to accomplishing life goals - and the best time to start is today!
New this year on the is an that invites Canadians to declare their weekly savings intentions for one of their life goals. The Calculator shows the amount of savings that will be accumulated by the beginning of FPW (November 19). Although savings is just one dimension of financial planning, the calculator demonstrates the importance of goal-setting and the positive cumulative impact of small actions over time.

1. Achieve your life goals: According to FPSC's most recent Value of Financial Planning study(i), 75% of respondents with a comprehensive financial plan feel their goals and aspirations are achievable (compared with only 48% of those without a plan).
2. Improve your ability to save: 56% of study respondents with a comprehensive financial plan said they have improved their ability to save over the last five years (compared with only 36% of those without a plan).
3. Have peace of mind: 64% of respondents who have a comprehensive financial plan said they have peace of mind. Only 41% of those with no plan said the same.
4. Prepare for 'rainy days': 58% of those with comprehensive financial plans said they feel prepared in the event of unexpected financial emergency. Only 27% of those without a plan said the same thing.
