Spring Pleasanton RV Show Expected to Draw a Crowd
Economic Growth, Easing Consumer Credit Leads to Industry Revitalization
(firmenpresse) - PLEASANTON, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/10/12 -- After weathering the economic storm for years, the RV industry is growing again and organizers of the 20th Annual Northern California Spring RV Show expect a large crowd of bargain hunters to show up for Nor Cal's biggest indoor/outdoor RV show May 18-27.
During the first two months of 2012, RV manufacturers shipped 43,300 units, an increase of 15.2 percent over the same period last year, according to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. Shipments in 2012 are expected to total 265,200 units, an increase of 5.1 percent from 2011 and the most since 2007, according to RV industry analyst Richard Curtin. Sales will benefit from stronger economic growth, increased job opportunities and easing consumer credit, Curtain said.
"The recession was hard on everybody," said Shawn Nohr, manager of GoodTimes Promotions, which is hosting the event. "But we've seen things picking up. Our winter show broke attendance records, and we're expecting more of the same."
RVing remains one of the most economical vacations. A study commissioned by the RVIA shows a family of four can save 23-59 percent on vacations depending on the type of trip and RV used. Even when fuel prices rise, more than 80 percent of RV owners say their vacations cost less than other forms of travel.
From May 18-27, the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton will feature an unparalleled selection of RVs and accessories for people looking for anything from a fifth-wheel to a land yacht.
"We know the economy isn't back to where it was, but it is going in the right direction and RVing remains one of the best ways to get the most bang for your vacation buck," Nohr said. "We expect a great crowd looking for good deals that will get them out on the road this spring."

Good Times Promotions was founded by Michael Nohr in 1988 after he stepped away from 30 years in the RV industry. He started in the RV and trailer business working for Nohr's RV, which was owned and operated by his father.
