Sheffield Revealed as Caravan and Motorhome Hotspot of Britain by Leading Caravan Insurers, Safeguard
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 05/17/12 -- Sheffield, once the heart of steel manufacturing in England and home of the knife and fork, has been revealed as the caravan and motorhome capital of the United Kingdom, according to research conducted by Safeguard UK.
The analysed thousands of live policies to discover which postcodes had the highest concentration of Safeguard customers - all of whom own either a caravan or motorhome.
Surprisingly, South Yorkshire has more caravan and motorhome owners than anywhere else in the UK with nearly 10% of all of Safeguard's customers based there. With a third of its city lying within the Peak District National Park and its close proximity to the Lake District, North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales, which boast some of the nicest scenery in the UK, makes Sheffield an ideal base from which to explore these areas of Britain whilst camping.
Centrally located in England, people living in the Sheffield area have easy access to many of the UK's major motorways and roads including the M1 and M18, making it easy to travel and visit new destinations during weekends or holiday seasons. For caravan and motorhome owners, being able to get to and from caravan parks in a simple and efficient way is key to getting the most out of these 'homes on wheels'.
The research also revealed that residents in London and its boroughs were most likely to snub the traditional caravan holiday, suggesting that lack of space to park motorhomes in the capital and distance needed to drive to reach popular caravan parks were key reasons for this.
Safeguard UK, one of the leading providers of motorhome and , is estimating that the 'staycation' will become more popular than ever in 2012 with the Diamond Jubilee and Olympics both contributing to people staying in the UK to enjoy the festivities. It's expected that many caravan and motorhome parks will be holding events to celebrate this patriotic year, encouraging regular visitors to join in the fun.

"Residents in central London probably struggle to store a caravan or motorhome as space is limited in the capital, so it's no surprise that there is such little concentration of Safeguard customers in those areas."
