SUCCESS FOR ALMA MANU IN INTERNATIONAL NEWSPAPER QUALITY COMPETITION
Alma Media's printing and distribution company Alma Manu Oy obtained membership
in the Quality Club of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers
(WAN-IFRA) for the years 2012-2014.
Membership in the WAN-IFRA Quality Club is the internationally most prestigious
acknowledgment of a newspaper printer's production quality. New members are
selected through the International Newspaper Color Quality Club (INCQC)
competition that this year had 192 participating newspapers from all parts of
the world. Alma Manu's Tampere printing facility participated with Aamulehti,
and the Rovaniemi facility with Lapin Kansa. This is the second consecutive
membership for the Tampere facility. The previous one was achieved for the years
2010-2012. The Rovaniemi facility now participated for the first time.
-Quality is an important competitive factor for both us and our customers. Good
print quality helps the customers get their message across when, for example,
the tonality of images is correct. Customers have commended us for our top print
quality, says Helvi Liukkaala, Managing Director, Alma Manu.
The INCQC membership required meeting WAN-IFRA quality criteria in measured and
general print quality. The application process lasted from January to March. A
panel consisting of international experts judged factors such as the correctness
of tones, sharpness and balance. A total of 26 different aspects were judged on
one page. Alma Manu was particularly successful in accuracy of colour conformity
and colour register.
