Downtime Protection and Business Continuance Solution Will Be Installed at 15 Sites Using MEDITECH and Siemens Healthcare Information Systems

(firmenpresse) - NATICK, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/29/12 -- , a leading provider of software and services connecting people with information for more efficient healthcare, today announced that Catholic Health East (CHE) has purchased NetSafe and software for 15 hospitals located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Georgia and Florida. The facilities utilize MEDITECH and Siemens healthcare information systems from which NetSafe uploads encrypted up-to-date electronic medication administration records (eMARs), Master Patient indexes, Blood Bank Transfusion logs and other critical patient information to local computers. By enabling 24/7 access to critical patient information, NetSafe ensures that CHE hospitals maintain uninterrupted patient care during a system or network downtime.

"We want to minimize any disruption in patient care due to downtime situations and implement a standardized business continuance/downtime solution that we can use across Catholic Health East," said Lisa Shima, CHE senior project management specialist. "NetSafe is a straightforward solution that will make it easy for clinicians to access patient-centric reports in a timely manner and continue delivering quality patient care."

St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA, a member of Catholic Health East, has been using NetSafe since 2007. The facility's success with the software is what led to CHE's decision to implement NetSafe in its entire hospital system. St. Mary Medical Center will receive an upgrade of NetSafe while the implementation in the new sites will be in phases over a year starting September 2012.

The additional hospitals included in the NetSafe implementation are Mercy Philadelphia Hospital; Mercy Suburban Hospital, East Norriton, PA; Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, PA; Nazareth Hospital, Philadelphia, PA; Saint Francis Hospital, Wilmington, DE; St. Mary's Hospital, Athens, GA; Good Samaritan Hospital, Greensboro, GA; Holy Cross Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Mercy Health System of Maine, Portland; Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Camden, NJ; Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, Willingboro, NJ; St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, NJ; Saint Michael's Medical Center, Newark, NJ; and St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY.

"Catholic Health East recognizes the importance of establishing a system for disaster recovery and ensuring its critical patient information is easily and consistently available to its clinicians," said Arthur Young, president of Interbit Data. "Downtime can be necessary for maintenance or can occur during a natural disaster, network outage, or system failure, posing a risk to patient care. NetSafe should be part of any healthcare facility's business continuance/downtime contingency plan to maintain continued operations and the delivery of quality patient care."
